This is being reposted to restore the link to this original post. LAW of attraction does work, for me at least. It was used in William Walker Atikinson's 1906 book, Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World. How To Live Life And Love It is a series of lessons in the form of a discussion between a Master and a Student who together explore the nature of reality.
It can work very well, and even when viewed scientifically, there is some interesting stuff to back it up. When you note the fact that everything is energy and that our thoughts and consciousness do impact and create reality, as quantum physics has shown, making the leap that we can attract what we want isn't such a stretch.
The attraction or repulsion acts along the line between the two charges. The powerful psychology behind these rhetorical tricks can distract readers from the larger illogic of Byrne's books. Saying that the Law of Attraction is based on quantum physics is a slap to the face for anyone who knows anything about quantum physics, has ever worked in a scientific field, or has either one of their feet planted in reality.
Ludvig wrote an article about a similar topic (and the mindset behind it) some time ago that is worth reading. 12) We're Not Perfect: The LOA is a perfect law” and should result in a perfect” life. After all, the only other force that could explain how Rhonda Byrne put two books on top of the best-seller list is the law of attraction itself.
While the proposed scientific explanations thus far don't fully support a thing like the law of attraction, I'm not so quick to dismiss it as optimism vs. pessimism - though this may very well be the case. As the first origin of life on this earth, as well as the continued life of each individual, is at present quite beyond the scope of science, I do not wish to lay much stress on the greater simplicity of the view of a few forms, or of only one form, having been originally created, instead of innumerable miraculous creations having been necessary at innumerable periods; though this more simple view accords well with Maupertuis's philosophical axiom ‘of least action'» (Darwin 1868 , Vol 1:12).
Look at how he controls a pack, it is all the result of his positive energy and thoughts that attract the dogs to him and make them follow his commands! All this is incredibly significant because it suggests that if you focus your mind on the right kinds of things, you will attract more of those things into your life.
I suppose it's because of the tempting idea that there are "cheat codes" to life, that you get to be in on a super special secret, the same reason people in conspiracy theories - they can't just accept the fact that life really is just this difficult and boring and there's no easy way out.
